The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Market Report Ennis Mart 09/05/2018
Ennis mart hosted a large sale this week with over 1000 lots coming under the hammer. Trade held firm on the previous week. But there was an exceptionally strong trade for bull weanlings born after July 17 as shippers battled it out for these and many of these fetching €3/kg and over. The better-quality heifers sold well but plainer heifers harder sold. Calves were a very good trade for Continental bred calves with a 3-week-old Charolais bull calf making €405. Hereford calves made up to €360 and Angus calves sold to €280. Friesian calves sold to €172 with good demand for strong farmer type calves. Sheep trade remained steady on last week with even a slight increase in prices, spring lambs making €151 for a pen of 12 weighing 46kg. Hogget’s sold to €131 for 55kg. Ewes and Lambs sold well with ewes with twin lambs making €220. Large entry of dairy stock on offer with both freshly calved cows and heifers and also in calf stock going under the hammer. These made from €1,050-€1,560. Sucklers were steady with a large number of cows and calves on offer. Top price of the day was €2,000 for a 2016 born Charolais first calver with a 2-month-old limousin heifer calf at foot.

Kilrush Cattle Show & Sale Including Calves
All Day
Trade in Kilrush was brisk right throughout the day with a large sale for the time of year. Calf numbers increased on the previous week also. FR calves sold mainly from €50 up to €140. AAX/HEX calves sold from €95 up to €295, continentals sold up to €280. Heifers and bullocks were in strong demand, with trade similar to the prevoius week. A full clearance was achieved in the dry cow ring were all types were in high demand.

Another large entry in Ennis mart today were both grass buyers and feeders were very active. The bullock and heifer trade has remained a steady trade with prices matching those of last week and even increasing slightly. Good quality bullocks met an exceptional trade with more forward stores also an excellent trade. Cows were met with a very strong demand with more feeder type cows around today. Aged bulls sold to a top price of €1,980 for a CH bull weighting 1,020kg.

Today Ennis Mart held its Mixed breed bull sale comprising of 72 lots. With Angus, Charolais, Hereford, Limousin and Simmental Bulls on offer with some excellent bull’s present. Top price bull was €3,000 for an excellent 5-star terminal and replacement index Charolais bull. Out of the top 4 priced bulls of each breed they were all 5-star terminal bulls. Top price Angus was €2,000. Top price Limousin was €2,800. Price range of Charolais bulls was from €2,000 to €3,000. Limousin price range was from €1,900 to €2,800.

Market Report Ennis Mart 15/05/2018
Ennis mart hosted another large sale this week with over 900 lots coming under the hammer. Trade held firm on the previous week. The better-quality heifers sold well and even increased on last week’s price but still plainer heifers harder sold. Calves were a very good trade for Continental bred calves with a 4-week-old Limousin bull calf making €565. Hereford calves made up to €320 and Angus calves sold to €300. Friesian calves sold to €225 with good demand for farmer type calves although numbers of these were limited. Sheep trade remained steady on last week with even a slight increase in prices, spring lambs making €158 for a pen of 12 weighing 47kg. Hogget’s sold to €162 for 60kg. Ewes and Lambs sold well with ewes with twin lambs making €210. Good entry of dairy stock on offer with both freshly calved cows and heifers and also in calf stock going under the hammer. These made from €920-€1,270. Sucklers were steady with a large number of cows and calves on offer. Top price of the day was €2,050 for a 2014 born Limousin second calver with a 1-month-old limousin bull calf at foot.

Good quality bullocks met an exceptional trade with more forward stores an excellent trade. Heifers again a good trade with heavy heifers and more forward types in excellent demand. Cows were met with a very strong demand with more feeder type cows around again around this week but forward and beef cows also selling extremely well. Aged bulls sold to a top price of €2,380 for a LM bull weighting 1,210kg.

Ennis mart hosted another large sale this week with over 800 lots coming under the hammer. Trade held firm on the previous week. Heifers sold well and even increased on last week’s price and met a very strong trade with excellent demand. Calves were a very good trade and numbers much larger than expected. Continental bred calves made up to €455 for a 3-week-old Limousin bull calf Hereford calves made up to €335 and Angus calves sold to €390. Friesian calves sold to €300 with great demand for farmer type calves ready to be weaned or weaned already although numbers of these were limited. Sheep trade remained steady on last week, spring lambs making €155 for a pen of 10 weighing 49kg. Hogget’s sold to €163 for 65kg. Ewes and Lambs sold well with ewes with twin lambs making €270. Cull ewes sold to €156. Good entry of dairy stock on offer with both freshly calved cows and heifers and also in calf stock going under the hammer. These made from €850-€1,370. Sucklers were a strong trade with a large number of cows and calves on offer. Top price of the day was €2,070 for a 2016 born Limousin first calver with a 1-month-old charolais bull calf at foot.

Another large entry in Ennis mart today with the good weather farmers were very active around all rings. The bullock and heifer trade has remained a steady trade with prices matching those of last week and even increasing for more forward types. Good quality bullocks met an exceptional trade with more forward stores an excellent trade. Heifers again a good trade with heavy heifers and more forward types in excellent demand. Also, today HE and AA cattle both bullocks and heifers were a very good trade with lots of interest from buyers ringside’ Cows were met with a very strong demand with both feeder type cows and beef cows also selling extremely well. Aged bulls sold to a top price of €2,180 for a SI bull weighting 1,100kg.

Ennis mart hosted another large sale this week with over 750 lots coming under the hammer. Trade held firm on the previous week for the heifers of better quality but lighter plainer heifers a shade easier. Bull weanlings met an excellent demand from both farmers and shippers and were a very good trade. Calves were a very good trade and numbers larger than expected again this week. Continental bred calves made up to €550 for a 4-week-old Charolais bull calf Hereford calves made up to €390 and Angus calves sold to €370. Friesian calves sold to €225 with good demand for stronger calves in all breeds. Sheep trade dropped on last week with lamb prices also falling due to factory quotes down well on last week, spring lambs making €154 for a pen of 5 weighing 52kg. Hogget’s sold to €148 for 66kg. Ewes and Lambs made €200 for a ewe with twin lambs but numbers of these were very limited. Cull ewes sold to €138. Small entry of dairy stock on offer with both freshly calved cows and heifers and also in calf stock going under the hammer. These made from €920-€1,400. Another good entry in Ennis mart today with the good weather farmers were very active around all rings. The bullock and heifer trade has remained a steady trade with prices matching those of last week and even increasing for better quality types. Good quality bullocks met an exceptional trade for both light and heavy bullocks but more forward stores were in particular a very strong trade. Heifers again a good trade with better quality heifers and more forward types in excellent demand. Cows were met with a very strong demand with both feeder type cows and beef cows also selling extremely well although numbers were slightly smaller. Aged bulls sold to a top price of €1,910 for a LM bull weighting 850kg.
