The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Numbers up marginally on last week. Trade slightly improved all round with more customers about for all types of stock, and this led to a very high clearance rate. Demand has improved for all types and a lot more farmers about and average prices today are 99% of what they were this day 12 months. Strong trade in the runner ring with runner heifers making to €835 and runner bulls to €900. Lambs made to €115 or steady on the week, cull ewes made €44 to €89. Very small entry of suckler stock and these made to €1,350.

Big sale in Ennis today with almost 1,100 cattle on offer. Trade was strong all round and even slightly dearer than same day 12 months and this led to an almost complete clearance. Prices up €20 on the week. Good demand for heavy bullocks. Again another large entry of aged bulls and these averaged €1.55/kg with a top price of €2,000 achieved for a limousine bull of 1,170kgs.

Again trade for the top quality lots holding very strong, and some very attractive prices received for these, lesser lots in all rings proving hardest sold. Suckler pairs made to €1,680. Runner heifers made to €860 and runner bulls to €1,000. Sheep trade a shade stronger up by about €2/head and made to €118. Cull ewes made €61 to €102.

Sale bigger today. Quality variable in all rings today, quality again to the fore in all rings. Big entry of suckling stock today and again good demand for the quality lots here, especially good lots and having 4 or 5 stars for replacement index. In-calf lots made to €1,560 and pairs made to a tops of €2,200, being a Simmental cow born in 2015 and Charolais heifer calf at foot. More activity in all rings today, but trade overall similar to last week. Lambs similar trade to last week and averaging just over €2/kg. Cull ewes made €30 to €90.

Big sale again today with just over 1,000 head on offer. Trade for the bulls holding very solid and heifers marginally tougher especially the plainer light lots but quality holding up fine. Again prices holding up well for suckling stock especially for quality with pairs making to €1,880 and no in-calf heifers available today. Trade in the runner ring more variable as was the quality were runner heifers topped out at €775 and bulls at €920. Trade for the lambs was slightly firmer today make to €115. Cull ewes made €54 to €101.

The Bank Holiday weekend proved to be very busy in Kilfenora, when on Saturday there was a General Sale and a Commercial Shorthorn Sale. The trade proved to be good both for the general sale and shorthorns. Very big entry of cull cows on offer. Shorthorn heifers generally made €500 to €1,020.

Big sale again with almost 900 on offer. Trade holding well with more farmer customers about and small bit of export activity. Quality lots are still very much sought after. Runner trade improved today with runner heifers making to €680 and runner bulls topped out at €890. A small entry of calves meet a good trade. Suckler stock also a strong trade with pairs making to €1,760. Sheep trade similar to the week before with lambs generally hitting €2/kg on average with them making to €107. Cull ewes made €50 to €100.
