Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.
The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

Draw for First Pen of Heifers to be Sold
***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

There was plenty of buyers today at Ennis mart, with farmers and exporters still very active and numbers steady on previous week. Weanling bull trade in particular was strong again today, with prices holding on the previous week with some excellent type weanlings on offer once again, heifers were an improved trade with some top-quality heifers on offer. In-calf suckler cows and heifers sold on average for €1,450. Suckler cows with calves ranged from €1,200 up to €1,720 for a blue cow with a limousin calf at foot. Freshly calved dairy cows and heifers made up to €1,200. Sheep trade was slightly less again but numbers smaller as well. Cull ewes made up to €133. Hogget’s made to €152 for 58kg. Spring lambs made up to €150 for a pen of 6 weighing 50kg. Angus/Hereford cross calves sold from €120 up to €315. Continental cross calves sold from €240 up to €590. Small number of Friesian calves and these made from €80 to €265.

A decent entry at Kilrush for the time of year but improved on last sale. Trade for better types was steady but these were very scarce plainer types sold reasonably well. Mostly lighter cattle on offer today. Quality was very variable in both the heifer and bullock ring today but a good clearance was achieved. Dry cows were a shade easier.

Trade was strong today in Ennis. Numbers were up on last week. Light stores sold well for good sorts but easier than the week before. Heavier bullocks and more forward types also an excellent trade once again this week. Both farmers and agents active once again around the bullock ring. Heifer trade was strong for better quality heavy types, with plenty of quality on offer in the heifer ring. A good entry of feeder cows and beef cows met a strong demand with trade similar to previous week with beef cows selling extremely well with factory agents active with some top-quality cows on offer today and many lots still breaking the €2/kg mark. Aged bulls sold to a top price of €1,520 for a CH bull weighting 905kgs.
