The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Reasonable size sale today with a good mix of stock on offer. Trade for the weanlings was quite good for both bulls and heifers, but some nice quality lots available in the 250kg to 320kg bracket.

Numbers similar to last week and more life to the trade all round today and a better atmosphere. Very good demand for stock in the 270kg to 350kg bracket. Generally the quality was better all round and mostly store type calves available and not as much meal feeding being done this year. More farmers about in every ring and no shipping activity. Runner heifers made to €745 and runner bulls made to €850. Some nice quality lots in the suckler ring today and incalf stock made to €1,690 and pairs to €1,670. A handful of suck calves meet a very good trade and made to €450. A bit more life in the sheep trade also up about €2/hd and cull ewes made to €107.

Numbers very similar to last week both in the bullock and cull cow rings, but heifer numbers back a bit. Slightly livelier trade all round and especially the bullocks 500kgs plus. A few more men anxious to by stock. Number of cull cows remaining at about 220 and number of Friesian culls still small, predominantly continentals available again today. Average prices up €30 on the week and up €10 on this day 12 months.

Numbers similar to last week in all rings. Quality variable and stock that are not getting some feeding now are beginning to show the effects of the weather. The top quality lots of bulls were dear but the average bulls a shade easier. Heifers overall a strong trade. Runner heifers made to €805 and runner bulls to €900. Suckler pairs hit €1,920 and in-calf lots to €1,590. A handful of suck calves made to €480. The sheep trade a shade sharper but numbers small. The best of the lambs hit €112 and averaged €2.08/kg. Cull ewes hit €107.

Numbers holding similar to last week and cull cow numbers beginning to increase with mostly dairy culls available again today. Dairy culls making
65 cent/kg to €1.20/kg for the better quality lots. Strong demand for the cull cows with a number of men competing. It was a local trade that drove both the bullock and heifer rings. Despite the severe weather cattle were very well presented.

Numbers beginning to drop off a bit with just over 600 on offer. More customers about today for both bulls and heifers. Trade generally better by €20/head and some quality lots meet some very attractive prices. Runner heifers made to €695 and runner bulls made to €825. More shipper activity today for the bulls but it was at the upper end of the market. Small entry of suckler stock again today and pairs made to €1,380. Very small entry of calves with HEX bull making €345 at a month old and a Charolais heifer calf made €400. Trade for lambs up about €4/head but a number lacking flesh. Butcher lambs made to €122. Cull ewes made €60 to €108.

Numbers dropping slightly in the bullock and heifer rings but cull cows numbers marginally up, however no major increase in dairy culls. Trade for the bullocks and heifers similar to last week. Trade for the store cull cow a more solid trade than the beef cull cow. There was some exceptional beef cows on offer today. Also more 2017 born bullocks and heifers today and these still remain a tough trade. A small entry of aged bulls on offer today.

Pairs in the suckler ring made to €1,560. Hoggets also a stronger trade up €3 to €5/head and good hoggets generally making €110 to €115. Cull ewes made €85 to €126.
