Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.
The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Fine entry of stock with over 700 on offer. Trade very strong all round. Bull trade similar to last few weeks but more variable in quality. Heifer trade improved €20 to €30 on the week. Calf numbers increasing and Continental calves topped out at €580 and Friesian calves made €40 to €115. Whitehead calves made to €325. A number of in-calf dairy stock made to €1,680. An absolute cracking trade for suckler stock and in-calf lots of these reached €2,000 with a clearance of AA in-calf cows making from €1,230 to €1,830. Pairs reached €2,030. Again sheep a very strong trade and hoggets reached €136 with a pen of 13 at 57kgs making €134. Cull ewes made €50 to €128.

Numbers affected by the weather but still just over 600 on offer. Trade remained very strong but some very good quality available in all rings. Calf numbers slightly smaller than expected with Friesian bull calves making €40 to €100. AA calves making up to €200 and Charolais bull calf made to €450. Calves need to be up to 3 weeks old and well fed to command strong prices. Pairs in the suckler ring made to €1,900 and in-calf lots made to €1,390. Very strong trade in the bull ring with farmers, bull finishers and some export activity and heifer trade driven by farmers and specialised feeders. Again hogget trade similar to last week with a top call of €142 for 9 at 55kgs. A number of hoggets short on flesh today. Cull ewes made €95 to 121.

Good increase in numbers in Kilrush today, and a strong entry of cull cows and these were a very fine trade with a good rise of Friesian and Continentals. Heifer numbers low but a strong entry of bullocks meet a very find trade all round.

Numbers pretty strong with just over 800 on offer and 250 sheep. Trade was strong all round and bulls and heifers similar to last week and possibly a shade dearer for some lots of bulls but the highlight today had to be the massive trade for sucklers. A massive trade for the pairs and with many of these lots making €1,700 to €2,400 but an exceptional price of €3,050 was achieved for a 2nd calver Limousin Cross with a Limousin heifer calf at foot of a month old. A handful of dairy stock appeared today making €950 to €1,220. Light Friesian bull calves made €30 to €60 but calves with a bit of strength made €70 to €140. Continentals hit €445 and Whiteheads and AAX made to €280. Again sheep trade very strong with a full clearance and these made to €141 for a pen of 8 at 54kgs. Cull ewes made €86 to €130.

The annual Cattle Show & Sale took place in Kilrush today. Some great quality lots on offer and these meet a very fine trade with some very good fleshy stock available. The first of the calves appeared today with some very light poor calves available and these made €30 to €40 and the better calves made €60 to €100 for the Friesians. AAX calves made to €228. Calves need to be 3 weeks and well fed to command decent prices.

Fine size sale again today with over 800 on offer. Big increase in calf numbers and 75% of these were Friesian bull calves. The light poorer calves were making €10 to €40 and the better lots of these made €60 to €80 with the stronger Friesian bulls suitable for the farmer making €80 to €140 and Whiteheads made to €280 and Continentals to €340. Again a very strong trade for suckling stock with pairs making to €2,080 and in-calf stock made to €2,000. Again a few dairy stock on offer and generally making €1,200 to €1,400. Again trade for the bulls very strong but slightly stickier in the heifer ring back €10 on the week. Trade for hoggets very strong yet again and 56kgs making €143. Cull ewes made to €147 with some great ewes available. Farmers would be well advised to sell calves in bunches where they are similar.
