Our commercial shorthorn sale was held in Kilfenora on Saturday together with a general sale of cattle. The maiden heifers in the Shorthorn section made from €1,440 to €2,780. There was a great trade for the Shorthorn weanling heifers and these made from €800 to €2,160 as most of these were in the 200-300kg bracket. There was a number of Shorthorn bulls and they ranged in prices from €760 to €1,900 but again mostly lighter stock available. In the general sale heifer weanlings ranged from €1,110 to €1,970. There was a small entry of bullocks and these made up to €5/kg. Cull cows made from €1,850 to €2,100.
