The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Numbers holding very strong with almost 1,000 on offer yet again which included 250 calves. Trade for calves better than expected with the majority of Friesian bulls selling between €40 and €70 and better stronger ones making to €120. Whiteheads generally made €150 to €250 and Angus made €100 to €200 and Continentals made to €390. Dairy stock made €850 to €1,340. Pairs in the suckler ring generally made €1,050 to €1,710 but a top call of €2,300 for a real top quality pair. In-calf sucklers made to €1,750. Again quality in the bull and heifer rings was well appreciated with prices achieved. Hoggets made to €133 or to €75 over with culls making to €130. Ewes and lambs made to €260.

Good size sale again today in Kilrush and a fine trade for calves and it must be said that calves on offer were of good quality and well fed, and it was farmer demand that drove the trade. Cull cows again mostly dairy culls and trade in bullock and heifer rings was good. A good mix of both traditional breeds and Continentals on offer. Very good trade for quality Whitehead calves.

Big sale again today despite the adverse weather and trade held quite firm especially for quality lots. Some nice quality store types about today. The heavier bull not as lively as the lighter storie type. Despite the weather a few extra customers about in the bull and heifer ring and more export activity also. Suckler pairs made to €2,180. In-calf stock made to €1,450. Dairy stock made to €1,400. Calves met a very solid trade but some nice quality stock available and mostly 3 weeks old. Friesian bulls ranged from €15 to €155 with the better quality well fed calves making €80 to €155. The shipper type calf making €40 to €75. Continental calves made to €415. Whiteheads generally made €180 to €300 with Angus making €100 to €200. Hoggets made to €132 or to €75 over with cull ewes making to €115.

Similar size sale today as last week but an increase in calf numbers. More light, poor quality calves today and these were a very poor trade making €5 to €20 whereas good quality Friesian bulls made to €130. Whitehead calves made to €265 and Continentals to €325. Calves need to be 3 weeks old and well fed to be saleable. Mostly dairy culls available, a mix of both Continentals and traditional breeds in the bullock and heifer rings.

Big sale today with almost 1,100 head on offer which included 280 calves. Suckler cow numbers small with pairs making €1,280 to €1,980. Good trade for quality dairy lots and these made to €1,590 with many lots making north of €1,300. In-calf suckler lots made to €1,340. Friesian bull calves for export made €40 to €70 with very poor demand for small light weak calves. Better quality Friesians made €70 to €120. Whiteheads made €200 to €300 and Angus €100 to €200 and Continentals made to €460. Very small entry of sheep today with hoggets making to €125 and cull ewes made to €90. Great trade for good quality heifers today especially lots over 350kgs. Bulls a similar trade to last week.

Smaller entry of cull cows today and mostly dairy types. A mix of continentals and traditional breeds in bullock and heifer rings.

Big sale today with over 1,100 on offer which included just over 300 calves. Calf trade steady with Friesian Bulls making €40 to €190, slight bit more appetite from the shippers today. Weanling Bull trade improved with shippers and farmers competing. Heifer trade very strong, also driven by farmers. Great trade for suckler stock with pairs making to €2,280. Dairy stock generally made €1,000 to €1,570. Much bigger sheep sale with hoggets improved about €3/hd and made to €129. Cull ewes made to €110. Ewes with single lambs at foot made to €252.
