The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Big sale of Bullocks with over 400 of these on offer. Quite a number of forward cattle of 600kgs plus in it again today and also good numbers of 2020 born bullocks in it. The 500kg to 600kg were scarce. Some great prices for some outlying stores, and great demand for forward cattle also again with quite a number going north.

Much smaller sheep sale today with only 170 sheep available. Only 6 pens of Spring lambs available and these varied in weight from 39kgs to 44.5kgs and price range was from €154 to €182. Hoggets made to €177 for a lot of 7 at 54kgs. Cull ewes meet a great trade and made €88 to €166. More ewes with lambs at foot today and these made to €219 with pairs at foot but lambs only a few days old.

Big sale again today with over 900 on offer. Trade was strong all round and some very fancy prices for some heifers again today but good stock about. Quite a number of Autumn born stock appearing and some very good prices for these in both bull and heifer rings. Suckling stock a great trade for pairs and made to €2,600. In the calf ring the number of Friesians is falling and these made €50 to €90. AAX calves made €90 to €320. HEX calves made €100 to €320. A top quality Limousin bull calf made €560. BB calves made to €460. A few dairy stock on offer made to €1,690.

Bigger sheep sale today with almost 300 on offer. Very strong demand with hoggets as dear as Spring Lambs but obviously hoggets were heavier. Spring lambs made to €183 and hoggets made to €186 for a pen of 10 at 66kgs. Again a super trade for cull ewes and in cases the trade for these was very similar to the hogget trade and made to €166.

Very big sale today with over 1,100 head of stock on offer and an increase in calf numbers also. Quite a number of Friesian bull calves again today and these making €55 to €110. Hereford calves made €180 to €315. AA calves made €100 to €315. Continental calves made €195 to €510. More dairy stock today and these made to €1,750. Pairs in the suckler ring made to €2,140 and in-calf lots made to €1,860. The trade in the bull and heifer rings slightly easier but quality was much more variable. The lighter bulls around the 300kg mark were a strong trade, and the top quality heifers.

Fine size sale today with 400 bullocks on offer and trade very strong especially for any forward type cattle with €1,000 with the weight fairly common for heavy cattle. The old proverb of a rising tide lifting all boats is very relevant at the moment with forward Friesian bullocks hitting €2.27 a kilo. Quality stores also much sought after.

Cull ewes a very strong trade yet again and similar in price to the hoggets and made to €170. Ewes with pairs of lambs at foot made to €286 per lot.

A mixed breed bull sale was held today with 50% of the bulls entered turning up and 45% of those presented sold with Limousin the predominant breed, and this breed made to €1,980 to €3,160 and an average of €2,455 was achieved for these. AA sold to €1,580 and Whiteheads sold to €2,000.

Very big sale again with over 1,000 on offer and heifers especially big. Quite a number of Autumn born weanlings on offer and many of these very well done with meal, and more demand for store type stock. Trade a shade easier in the weanlings, calves held a steady trade with Friesian bulls making €95 to €155. AA calves meet a good trade and made €180 to €420. Continental calves made to €520 and HEX calves made €160 to €390. Dairy stock made to €1,650. Strong demand for pairs in the suckler ring pushed prices out to €2,590 and in-calf lots made to €1,970.

Bigger sheep sale today with 350 on offer. Numbers up in all categories today. Trade back today in all classes and Spring Lamb back €10 to €12 in line with factory quotes. Hoggets easier also but held a slightly more firm trade. A ewe and a pair of young lambs made €310. Cull ewes held the trade exceptionally well and made to €166.

Big sale again with over 900 on offer. Numbers of calves hold steady with 200 on offer and mostly beef breeds available today with very few Friesians on offer. Friesian bulls made €75 to €110. AAX calves made €125 to €290. HEX calves made €110 to €380. Continental calves made €125 to €675 for a Charolais Bull. More dairy stock again today and these made €1,420 to €2,100. Again, some great pairs in the suckler ring and these made to €2,200. In-calf made to €1,510. Quite a number of Autumn born weanlings again today and it seems to be very early for these to be appearing. Trade for the plainer lots of heifers a bit easier but the quality lots still a great trade.

Big sale again in Kilrush with just over 300 head on offer. Calf numbers getting smaller but trade holding very steady for these and yet again a strong demand for Friesian heifer calves from €310 to €335 with a few Friesian bulls on offer making €100 to €140. AA calves made to €250 and BBX calves made to €360. A handful of suckler cows with calves at foot met a good trade and made to €1,700. Again, quite a number of young stock available today. A strong trade was achieved today in all classes and a 96% clearance achieved.
