Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.
The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Monday 10th January 2022
Opening sale of 2022 was held today and a fine size sale with just short of 500 on offer. Trade overall similar to pre-Christmas trade and a top shout of €169 for lambs today. It was mostly heavy lambs available today and stores were scarce. Cull ewes hit €152 and a handful of breeders in lamb made to €170.

First weanling sale and suckling stock today for 2022 and trade opened strong but it must be said there was some nice quality available. No suck calves available today which is unusual. Suckling stock were a strong trade and pairs made to €2,370. Incalf lots made to €1,910 today.

Bigger than expected entry of stock today with a strong entry of cull cows. A serious trade for cull cows with demand outstripping supply. A number of the stock in the bullock and heifer rings were young light stock. Cull cow numbers made up 40% of the numbers on offer with many diary farmers holding culls till after year end. A handful of in-calf dairy stock varying in age from 2014 to 2018 made €1,090 to €1,320 all in-calf to HEX bull.

Big sheep sale again today with over 550 on offer. Trade back about €7/hd on the week especially the heavy lambs. The factory type lambs held better with a drop of €3 to €5/hd. The cull ewes held the trade and made to €156. Ewes and lambs at foot made to €271 for ewes with pairs.

Much bigger sale today with over 500 on offer. Trade improved for the bulls today with a strong trade for all weights. Heifer trade strong also and slightly dearer than last week. About 30 suck calves available today and these meet excellent demand. A month old Charolais bull calf made €560. Whitehead bull calves made €330 and Whitehead heifers topped out at €350 for 5 weeks old. Some great quality through the weanlings today which helped trade. In-calf lots made to €1,980 in the suckler ring and pairs made to €1,770.

Bigger sale again today with almost 700 on offer. Trade stronger again today in both bulls and heifers. A nice coloured LMX heifer of 420kgs hit €2,390 or €5.69/kg. We had 50 suck calves available today and a strong trade was recorded. Friesian bulls made €50 to €105 for the lesser calves with the better stronger bulls making €110 to €205. AAX bull calves made €265 to €360. Charolais bull calves made to €615. Pairs in the suckler ring made to €1,900 and in-calf lots made to €1,720.

Fine size sale of bullocks today with just over 400 on offer. A lot more store cattle today compared to last week. Very strong trade for forward cattle also. Some of the top quality lots in both stores and forward cattle getting into €2.90/kg. Bullocks got to €1,400 over their weight today. Tops achieved was €3.15/kg for 3 CH weighing 555kgs. AA hit a high of €2.53/kg.

Sheep sale similar in size to last week and trade a small bit firmer. More of a mix of good lambs and store sheep today. The €3/kg and over was a lot easier to achieve today. Stores making €3/kg freely and hitting €3.20/kg in places. The cull ewes reached a high of €166 and good ewes in strong demand.
