The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Bigger sale again today with 874 on offer. Trade for the bulls was dearer today and heifers a shade easier but still a very good trade. Bulls were dearer today by €50 in cases and heifers easier by €10-15. There were just over 60 suck calves available and these were a very good trade with the exception of poor light calves. Generally Fr bulls making €50-100. A limousin bull calf made up to €580 and whitehead bulls made up to €400 and whitehead heifers making up to €290. AA calves made up to €270. Calves need to be at least 3 weeks old and well fed to attract interest. Suckler cows were a strong trade and in calf lots hit up to €2220 and only a few pairs available today, these made up to €1610.

A cracking trade was on offer for the 400 bullocks on display. Quite a strong entry of forward cattle again with many finding their way to Northern Ireland and great online activity. The €2,000 mark was breached on a number of occasions. AA hit a high of €2.85/kg or up to o€1,145 over the weight. HEX hit a high of €2.61/kg. Continentals hit €3.02/kg. In general prices up about €40 on the week.

Numbers up today as one customer had 90 hogget’s. In general trade a shade sharper, with €161 achieved for hogget’s. The quality on offer today was good with mostly factory and butcher hogget’s and well fed. Good fleshy cull ewes holding the trade with a great ewe of 123kgs hitting €171.

Numbers were back a bit today in the weanling rings compared to last week. However, calf numbers were up from last week. An entry of in calf dairy heifers made from €1,370 to €1,630. These were light young heifers but had good EBI figures of €200 plus and good butterfat and protein figures also. Quality calves were a good trade but the weak young calf was not wanted. Good Friesian bull calves made €100 to €200 while lighter calves made €50 to €100. AA bull and heifer calves made up to €240. Hereford cross calves made up to €430 for bulls. Friesian heifers made up to €250. Continental calves made up to €500. Pairs in the suckler ring made up to €1,780 and in calf lots made up to €1,700. Quality varied in the bulls and heifers, but they were overall a strong trade.

Numbers were back a bit today with just over 350 sheep on offer. The general run of the hoggets were making €2.90/kg to €3.10/kg. The top price today was 160 for 58kgs. The top price for cull ewes was €180 for 2 good ewes @ 102kgs and another pen of 5 @102kgs made €178.

Fine sale again today with just over 850 on offer, which included just over 100 calves. Again good calves made a good trade but the very young weak calves were a tough trade and these made from €10 to €50. Better FR calves made from €60 to €195. Continental bull calves made up to €475. AA Heifer calves made to €340. In calf suckler stock made up to €1,980 while pairs made up to €2,580. The weanlings were a great trade with many lots in the bulls exceeding €3/kg and some making up to €3.40/kg. Heifers were a strong trade also with only 2 heifers going unsold.

Stronger entry of stock today with almost 850 on offer. Trade improved for calves today with some exceptional prices for good calves. More life in the Friesian calves also and nice Friesian bulls making €120 to €210 and light calves €20 to €75. A great Charolais bull calf made €710 and was 3 weeks old. AA calves made €80 to €310 and HEX calves made €165 to €375. In the suckler ring, in-calf made to €1,900 with pairs hitting €2,500. Again, an excellent trade in both the bull and heifer rings.

Very big sale of bullocks with just short of 600 on offer. Beef type cattle scarce but the beef cattle on offer meet a serious trade with many lots exceeding the €2,000 mark with a top call of €2,470 for a 875kg Charolais. AA hit a high of €2.90/kg in the beef section. Quite a mix of store cattle available today in all weight categories. Again 20% of the bullocks on offer finding a new home in Northern Ireland.

The opening sale for 2022 was held today which attracted a small entry but trade was strong. Bull weanlings made to €2.92/kg and heifers made to €2.89/kg and it was all weanlings and no stronger cattle.
