The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Big sale of stock today with just shy of 1,100 on offer. Trade holding pretty steady but no dearer. Some of the quality lots in both rings a serious trade. A dozen calves available and these made to €400 for a LIM heifer calf. Runner heifers made to €840 and bulls made to €940. A very good selection of suckler cows and calves today with these hitting €3,180 for pairs and in-calf lots hit €2,120. It was nearly all farmer customers in both rings with very little shipping activity and this was limited to the bull ring.

SHANNONSIDE SHORTHORN BREEDERS CLUB SALE
The annual Shannonside Shorthorn Society Sale of pedigree pure bred shorthorns was held on Saturday last, and a very good trade was the order of the day. The in-calf heifers proved a great trade and made €1,300 to €3,650 with over a third of the lots in this section going over €2,000. The bulls were a tough trade with the exception of a few lots. The year-old half maiden heifers were a strong trade and made to €2,500 but generally in the €1,300 to €1,600 bracket. The weanling heifers proved very popular, and these reached a high of €2,700 with many of the quality lots exceeding the €1,000 mark.

The quality heifers a fine trade but the light average heifer harder work. Runner heifers made to €800 and runner bulls to €1,000. Again, a large selection in the suckler ring with pairs hitting €3,420 and in-calf lots made to €2,180.

Big sale today with just shy of 1,000 head on offer. Trade a shade stronger in both bull and weanling rings. Shippers a lot more active today with 5 different groups online and ring side. More farmers available in both the bull and heifer rings today and this led to an improved trade of €20 to €30/head in the heifer ring and the bull ring maintained the very strong trade of recent weeks. Suckler stock meet excellent demand also and in-calf heifers made to €2,360 and nearly all in-calf stock today. Runner heifers made to €850 and runner bulls to €1,070.

Big sale of bullocks again today with just over 700on offer. There was a good mix of forward and store cattle available. Cattle showing signs of the weather if not being fed. Some very fancy prices for the top quality lots but the plainer cattle getting that bit harder sold especially if light and young.

Just over 450 sheep on offer today. Bit more bite to the trade today especially for the good butcher type lambs. A few farmers out also for store lambs as grass growth has been exceptional for time of year and quite a bit of grass remaining on some farms. Cull ewes making from €1.02/kg to €1.53/kg with the well fleshed ewe in best demand.

Big sale today with just short of 1,100 on offer. The quality was very mixed today with some very light weanlings in the mix today. The quality weanlings were an excellent trade again for the 320kgs to 400kgs, as farmers active for these. Runner heifers made to €820 with bulls hitting €1,000. Shippers active in the bull ring and more farmers in the heifer ring. A large entry of suckler stock and mostly in-calf lots and an in-calf heifer due shortly made to €2,340.

Very big sale of weanlings in Kilfenora for the Bank Holiday Monday with almost 700 on offer. The quality in the heifers was very good which led to some exceptional prices in the ring. The quality in the bull ring was more variable but again the quality calves were a very strong trade with local farmers competing for these.
