Entry System:
Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.
The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

Draw for First Pen of Heifers to be Sold
***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Fine size sale again with 280 on offer. Cull cow numbers way back today with just 41 on offer. Trade very strong for these despite mostly dairy breed stock available. Quite a number of young cattle available today and no beef available in heifers or bullocks. Good mix of Continentals and traditional breeds available in both rings.

Sheep Auction
Good size sheep sale again with 542 on offer. Trade for the hoggets was tough all round and €147 was the highest achieved, for a pen of 9 weighing 52.5 kgs. The general run was €135 to €145 for the better type lots. The cull ewes were a very solid trade and good fleshed ewes a strong trade and hit €193 for 2 great ewes of 102kgs and 5 at €94kgs hitting €171 and a super ewe of 104kgs hit €211.

Good entry of bullocks today for our annual show and sale of bullocks which saw some excellent cattle on offer. The was quite a number of short keep cattle available and not a huge amount of beef available and stores for grass were scarce. Bullocks hit €2,900 for a LMX of 880kgs. 90 lots exceeded €2,000 today with almost 20 lots exceeding €2,500. The quality on offer was a credit to the farmers presenting them.

Big sale today with 851 available. Trade was very strong all round especially for quality in both the bulls and heifers. 55 calves available today with a top call of €680 for a month-old Limousin bull. The better Friesian bull calves made €80 to €205, whereas light bull calves made €50 to €80. AA calves made €130 to €205. HEX calves made €125 to €305. Suckler stock meet a strong trade for a small entry with pairs hitting €2,980 and in-calf lots at €1,740. Bull weanlings peaked at €4.35/kg and heifers at €4.58/kg.

Big sale in Kilrush again today with just shy of 400 head on offer, and calves beginning to appear in numbers which is a couple of weeks earlier than normal. Friesian bull calves made €15 to €90 depending on strength. AA calves made €50 to €160 and HEX claves made €80 to €155 with a BBX calf making €380. Quite a number of dairy culls again today. Quite a number of young stock available in both the heifer and bullock ring.
