The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Fine size sale again today with 897 on offer which included 175 calves. Again strong calves a very good trade with HEX calves making to €470, while lighter calves made from €60 onwards. Not many FR bulls available and these made from €30 to €225, again depending on strength. Quite a number of AA calves available and these made €80 to €325. There were large numbers of August born weanlings available today. Again some very fancy prices for both bulls and heifers. A small entry of suckler stock today and a nice couple made €2700 but generally couples made nothing over €2000.

Big sale today with 421 on offer which included 80 calves. Again, a good trade for the better calves and very good farmer demand. Very few FR calves today and these made €30 to €115. Quite a few AA calves made €55 to €265. HEX calves made €45 to €250. Strong entry of cull cows mainly dairy types. Again, a fine trade for the bullocks and heifers and gain quite a number of traditional breeds in these.

Reasonable size sheep sale today with 459 on offer. A small entry of Spring Lambs but great spring lambs available and these reached €184. Hogget’s also a fine trade and many lots exceeding €3/kg. Again, the good heavy ewes a very strong trade and some of the better lots getting into almost €2/kg. Lighter ewes in the range of €1.50/kg to €1.75/kg.

Good size sale today with 727 on offer. Calf numbers similar to last week and great demand for the strong calves in both bulls and heifers. AA calves made €25 to €475 & HEX calves made €150 to €410. Great trade for pairs in the suckler ring and these made to €2980, with over 50% of lots exceeding €2000. Some exceptional prices for weanling bulls especially the lighter lots and a number of these exceeded €4/kg. Again a strong trade for heifers and up to €4.30/kg was achieved. A small entry of dairy stock made to €2040.

Big sale today with 931 on offer. Quality stock were an excellent trade and some super prices for some great cows and calves as these hit €3700 for pairs, with 5 lots in this ring exceeding €3000 and in calf lots making €2200. Again, the strong suck calves were a very good trade with a top call of €590 for a 2-month-old LM bull calf. Its great to see calves with more strength available and farmers were anxious for these. Again €4/kg was breached in the bull ring and similar in the heifer ring, with some excellent prices obtained in both rings.

Smaller numbers of cull cows and heifers available today. Again, a very strong trade for cows and heifers, similar to last week. Mostly Continental cows available today with less dairy stock available. The €3kg getting harder got in both rings with the exception of the really good, fleshed cows and the quality store heifers. A strong entry of aged bulls averaged €2.41/kg and a Limousin of 975kgs made €2,570.

Final sale for April ended on a positive rate in the bullock ring with trade holding steady on the week. Quality more variable today and a 98% clearance was achieved. Bullock sale reverting to Thursday from next week on together with cull cows and heifers. Good mix of continental and traditional breeds on offer today.
