The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Slightly smaller sale today with 550 on offer. Some good quality lambs on offer and these averaged €4.13/kg, with a top call of €4.46/kg. A good entry of hoggets for the day of the year and these averaged €3.11/kg. Once again a large entry of cull ewes and these met a great trade, topping out at €227 for a ewe weighing 113kgs & €225 for a ewe weighing 102kgs. The majority of the well fleshed ewes all made over €2/kg.

Numbers beginning to fall back with just 400 on offer. Shippers very active in the bull ring with bulls hitting €4.24/kg. Heifers hit highs of €3.75/kg with both farmers and shippers active in this ring. Over half the bull weanlings were bought by shippers. About 60 calves on offer with AAX calves making €90 to €345, HEX calves made €90 to €480. A small entry of sucklers made to €2,530 for pairs and incalf stock made to €1,700.

Once again the shippers were very active in the bull ring and these reached a high of €4.48/kg. Heifers made to €4.50/kg. A handful of suckler cows made to €3,190 for pairs.

Smaller sheep sale today with just over 500 on offer. Trade for lambs back quite a bit on the week in line with factory quotes and hard to exceed €4/kg. Culls holding a steadier trade and averaged 1.81/kg with a top call of €220 for 101kgs, and 112kgs making €224. A small selection of ewes and lambs and ewes with pairs made to €225.

Good size sale today with just over 400 on offer, which included 60 calves. Good strong calves available as HEX calves made €150 to €415 and AAX calves made €145 to €335. Continental calves made to €450. A small entry of suckling stock today as pairs made to €2,300. Some very nice quality bull weanlings on offer, with bulls under 300kgs a fabulous trade. Lots over 300kgs were a similar trade to previous weeks. Farmers and shippers were very active in the bull ring, with a small bit of export activity in the heifer ring.

Bigger sale than expected in Kilrush today with a number of strong Fr bull calves and these met a great trade between farmers and shippers and made to €290 and strong Angus calves made to €405 and Hereford cross €385. Again, a strong entry of cull cows with 40 on offer, again nearly all dairy types and these met great demand. Mostly light young traditional breed stock available in both the bullock and heifer rings.

A great yard of cows and heifers on offer and anything with flesh was in serious demand. A handful of cull bulls averaged €2.50/kg with a top price of €2,740 for a Charolais bull of 1140kgs.

Good size sale today with just short of 600 on offer. The €4/kg mark was only broken once today with an average price of €3.70/kg achieved across the board for lambs. Not too many butcher lambs available, with a few store lambs starting to appear. A good entry of culls again today but demand for these was quieter than previous weeks with an average price of €1.87/kg.

Smaller sale today with just over 300 on offer, as calf numbers start tailing off. Quality overall not as good as last week. Shippers still driving the trade in the bull ring as they secured 45% of the bulls available. Some shipping activity in the heifer ring also. Calves met a good trade, as there was mostly stronger stock available. HEX calves made from €150 to €435, with AAX calves making to €390. Continental calves made to €620. Only a few sucklers available and these made to €1,900.

Good size sale again today with just over 500 on offer. In all rings the more forward the stock the better, whereas lighter stock in the bullock & heifer rings were that bit easier. In the bullock ring there was a lot of dairy bred stock available. Quite a few dairy culls available today, with some excellent continental culls for sale also as these held a very solid trade. A strong entry of aged bulls averaged €2.20/kg with a LM bull weighing 1,120kgs making €2,520.
