The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Smaller sale today with 450 on offer. Some great forward bullocks on offer today and these met good demand. Mostly stores on offer in the heifer ring and trade for these was quieter than the previous week. Mostly continental cows on offer, as better lots made to €3/kg. A handful of cull bulls averaged €2.32/kg, with a CH bull weighing 1,055kgs making €2,700.

Good size sheep sale today with 522 on offer. Lambs were dearer today, up 5-10c/kg for both finished and store lambs. The average price of lambs today was €3.27/kg. Again the cull ewes were a super trade and averaged €2.21/kg, with prices reaching €270 for an ewe weighing 106kg & a 118kg ewe made €286.

Good size sale today with 580 on offer. A good bit of northern activity today and forward cattle were in strong demand. More farmers about for the stores also. Definitely more life in the forward cattle today, up 10-15c/kg in the bullock ring. Cows remained a very strong trade again this week. Heifers over 400kg were a bit sharper also, up 10c/kg. A strong entry of aged bulls averaged 2.33/kg, as a CH bull weighing 925kgs hit €2,640.

Breeding Sheep Sale
We held our Breeding Sale for sheep today and while numbers were back on last year, with 420 offer, prices were up €60 on overage on the same sale last year.
Generally hogget’s made €260 to €300 with a tops of €330. Breeding ewes made to €235. Ewe lambs made €150 to €190. Rams met a fair trade and peaked at €650 and a couple of lots made to €640.

Big sale today with just over 800 on offer. Quite a few forward cattle available especially in the bullock ring, with mostly stores on offer in the heifer ring. Some great cull cows available today met a serious trade as prices held the same as last week. Bullocks over 500kgs were a shade dearer, with heifers up between 5-10c/kg. A very large entry of cull bulls on offer as a LM bull weighing 1,125kgs made €2,900 and an 895kg CH bull topped €2,250. Overall, a 99% clearance was achieved today.

Our annual weanling show & sale was held today, with some super stock on offer. Shippers and farmers battled it out in the bull ring, as shippers bought 42% of these. Bulls were 30c/kg dearer than the same day last year and weights were up 8 kgs on average. Heifers were a similar weight and up 20c/kg on last years sale. The stock on offer were a credit to the farmers producing them. Small entry of sucklers stock met a fine trade and made to €2,490. In the organic section heifers were a stronger trade but the quality of bulls was mixed.

Big sale today with just over 900 on offer, as there was quite a number of forward bullocks. More stores in the heifer ring but some great cull cows available again, with mostly continentals available in this ring. An excellent trade for all forward cattle today with bullocks up 5-10c/kg & heifers over 500 kgs up 5c/kg. There were 25 aged bulls and these averaged €2.33/kg, with a Simmental bull weighing 1,090 kgs hitting €2,470.

Big sale of heifers today with just over 400 on offer together with 200 cull cows and 15 aged bulls. Again, some great continental cows on offer as the top quality lots hit €3/kg for exceptional cows. Quite a number of forward type early 2022 born heifers were short of flesh for killing. Heavy heifers similar trade to last week, but plainer lighter heifers were a bit easier. The aged bulls averaged €2.35/kg, with a CH bull of 955kg making €2,430 and a LM bull weighing 975kgs making €2,320.
