Entry System:
Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.
The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

Draw for First Pen of Heifers to be Sold
***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Ennis Mart Tuesday 4th September 2018
Numbers slightly smaller than last week and this is because of a lot of work going on, on farms. Trade again good for quality stock but after that trade is tough and quality was variable in all rings today. Suckling pairs made to €1,680. Runners following the same trend with quality lots doing very well and heifers made to €715 and bulls to €1,000 but plainer lots of these also harder sold. Sheep numbers a bit smaller also but a bit more life in the trade and up on the week by €2 to €4 per head. Average price up 5c to 6c per kg on the week with a top price of €2.30/kg. Cull ewes made €57 to €94.

Numbers similar to last week with farmers scrambling to get work done before the rain. Trade could be described as solid on the week and good demand for forward cattle of all breeds. Mainly stock bred from the dairy herd on show today and these meet better than expected demand. The annual Cattle Show & Sale in Kilrush is to be held on Wednesday next the 12th September.

Saturday 8th September 2018
The annual Cattle Show & Sale took place in Scariff on Saturday last. A good entry of stock on offer. Trade was better than expected in the heifer section but slightly tougher in the bullock ring. Aged bullocks going out of spec meet a tough trade and again it was quality that dictated the market. Show results are as follows:
