Sale Regulations

Cattle

All cattle presented for sale at Clare Marts require 2 tags and a valid passport signed by the current owner/keeper.

The Following Test  Requirements apply:

Tuberculosis Testing (TB)

All cattle 6 weeks and over including calves have to be within 12 months of TB test.  The animal's passport will need to have the date of test, showing when the animal was tested.

Brucellosis Testing

It is no longer a requirement for the pre-movement of stock.

BVD

All calves born from 1st Janaury 2013 must be BVD Tested

Export Testing

In order for animals to be eligible for the live export market they have to be within 30 days of TB test and must be from a complete clear herd.  If animals are outside the 30 days then they can be tested by the exporter provided it is at least 42 days from their last TB test.  All animals between 30 days and 42 days of their last T.B. test are neither eligable for export or to be tested.  So when selling stock that may be suitable for export make sure they are within 30 day test or more than 42 days since their previous test. There is no need to have export certs attached to the passports as Clare Marts receives this infromation from the department.

Sheep

All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

If you wish to be approved to buy online, click 'request permission to bid' on the app.  After submitting the request to bid you need to ring Clare Marts to approve you on the app. 

 

Entry System: 

Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.

Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.

Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.

The Runner Section:

Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.

Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

Draw For First Pen To Be Sold in: Weanling Bull, Weanling Heifer, Suckler Cows, Cull Cows, Heifers & Bullocks

Enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up.  If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.

Sheep Auction

Small sheep sale today with 300 sheep on offer. Good quality hoggets on offer today and these were a similar trade to last week. An overall average price of €3.84/kg for hoggets. Cull ewes were a strong trade again this week and averaged €2.66/kg, as 4 ewes weighing 100kgs made €284 & 7 ewes weighing 91kgs making €264.

Fine sale of bullocks again today with 547 on offer. Mostly store type stock available today and very few 2024 born cattle available. Bullocks over 600kgs up €10c/kg again and stores between 400kgs and 600kgs up 5c/kg. Bullocks under 400kgs up 20c/kg with some huge prices achieved. A three-year-old bullock of 840kgs hit €3,870.

Ennis Mart Cows, Heifers & Aged Bulls

Fine entry of cull cows & heifers today with just over 500 on offer and 24 aged bulls available also. Aged bulls were a super trade with 8 bulls exceeding €4,000, as a LM bull weighing 1,065kgs made €4,740 and a CH bull weighing 1,130kgs hit €4,400. Again quite a number of forward type heifers today and these averaged €4.25/kg. Heavy cows over 700kgs averaged €3.80/kg. Cows up 10c/kg on the week and heifers were up 10-15c/kg.

Big sale today in Kilrush with just over 600 on offer, which included 160 calves. Great trade for calves with AAX calves making €110 to €390 & HEX calves making €100 to €400. FR bull calves made €100 to €250. A cracking trade for the 80 cull cows on offer. A good dash of forward heifers in the sale and these met huge demand.

Very big sale today with 1361 on offer, which included just short of 300 calves. There was a great yard of weanlings on offer as the trade was similar to last week but no dearer. Some great stock available in both rings. Dairy stock made from €1,120 to €2,540. Pairs in the suckler ring made to €2,490 and in-calf lots made to €2,570. FR calves made from €70 to €280. AAX calves made from €100 to €405 & HEX calves made from €160 to €600. LMX calves made from €110 to €640 and CHX calves made from €230 to €600.
