Entry System:
Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.
The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.
Draw For First Pen To Be Sold in Weanling Bull and Bullock Ring
Draw for First Pen of Heifers to be Sold
***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Monday 15th March 2021
Smaller sheep sale today with just over 200 on offer. Yet again new headlines have been hit in respect of Hogget prices. A top call of €181 was achieved for a pen of 12 at 55kgs. A pen of 18 stores of 38.5kgs made €125. The quality was more variable today in the hogget’s. The high prices of hogget’s had a knock-on effect on the cull ewes and these went to €146.

Due to no sale on St Patrick’s Day, a calf sale was held on Monday afternoon to facilitate farmers that may have been under pressure to off load some calves. Trade could only be described as excellent for calves on offer with a queue of farmers anxious to purchase.
Friesian bull calves made €45 to €140.
Continental bull calves made €225 to €370.
Hereford calves made €235 to €370.
Next Sale in Kilrush on Wednesday the 24th March.

Big sale today with over 1,000 head on offer. Trade was strong in all rings today and it was the first day we had some dairy stock on offer and these were a super trade, with cows in their 4th to 6th lactations making €1,430 to €1,970 for good British type cows. Suckler stock also very strong with pairs making up to €2,730 and in-calf stock making to €1,470. Calves a great trade with Friesian bulls making €50 to €190. A few very light calves made €10 to €40. HEX calves made €185 to €400 with Continental calves making to €475. AAX made €175 to €375. Both weanling bulls and heifers a very strong trade.

Numbers solid in the cows and heifers today and trade could only be described as very positive all round. Some very good cows on offer with plenty of beef on them and these were a great trade with one customer having 30 cows standing €2.04/kg. Heifers a great trade also and very good heifers in it and a few exceptional prices for a few super heifers. Some good aged bulls on offer also and again a very strong trade.

Number of bullocks similar to last week. Today we had a lot of cattle in the 650kg upwards that were too fleshy for grass but need at least 2 to 3 months heavy feeding to finish and quite a few of these were 30 months and plus. Not quite as many customers today but quality stores held a fine trade despite this.
