Entry System:
Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.
The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.
Draw For First Pen To Be Sold in Weanling Bull and Bullock Ring
Draw for First Pen of Heifers to be Sold
***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Monday 22nd March 2021
Just over 300 sheep on offer again today. The good hogget’s a great trade yet again with a pen of 12 at 51kgs hitting €184. A few spring lambs appeared today and 7 at 39.5kgs made €154. Demand not as strong for the store hogget’s today, as the change over to spring lamb will commence shortly. Again, cull ewes a strong trade and made to €133. A handful of ewes and lambs available today and a ewe hogget with a pair of lambs made to €282.

Pedigree Registered Mixed Breed Bull Sale

Today we had a mixed breed pedigree bull sale. 50% of the bulls offered for sale found new homes. Aberdeen Angus made to €1,525 while Whiteheads made €1,400 to €2,500. Charolais sold to €2,675. Limousines were the breed with most lots on offer and these made €1,700 to €2,750.

Big sale today with almost 1,100 head on offer which included 230 calves. Again trade pretty strong overall. A dash of aged dairy cows made to €1,510. Suckler pairings made to €1,980 and incalf lots made to €1,400. Light Friesian bull calves made €25 to €75 with better calves making €80 to €155. AAX calves made €195 to €255. Whitehead calves made €245 to €375. A good Charolais bull calf made to €530. Some nice quality BBX calves made to €455. Trade for the bull and heifer weanlings similar to last week, quality a bit more variable in the bulls, but a better run of heifers in it.

Big yard of stock in Kilrush today with just 400 head available. A fine trade was recorded for the calves, but calves were well presented today and a full clearance was achieved. Lighter Friesian bulls for shipping made €25 to €70 whereas the better ones made €80 to €105. Quite a number of Whiteheads today and these making €170 to €315. AAX made €170 to €220. A full clearance in the cull section also with 50 of these on offer. Very strong trade in both the bullock and heifer ring also.
